Florence has been a food and wine writer for the New York Times for more than 50 years. She contributes the weekly Off the Menu column, has been on the wine panel and had previously written a weekly column, Front Burner, for decades.
Florence frequently writes features that appear in the Food section and also covers food and travel and writes articles about news in the restaurant industry.
In her newly published memoir, “Salty, Not Sweet,” Florence explores the arc of her career, her life and the influences that shaped both. She has also written 13 cookbooks.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Smith College, Florence has an M.A. in French from New York University. She lives in Manhattan and East Hampton, N.Y.
